My friend Paul just reminded me of something hilarious from a few years back, that we still haven’t forgotten and probably won’t forget for a long time.
I was talking to Paul about his departure from my math class, and how I had started talking to Lachlan quite a bit. I explained how I thought this Lachlan kid was really cool. Then the conversation went a little like this:
Paul: Uhh.. you do know what happened at year 8 camp, right?
Me: No, what are you talking about?
Paul: Well, this is sort of awkward to say, I’m not really sure if I should tell you or not. But like, I will, because you should probably know this about him if you’re going to be friends with him. See, well, at year 8 camp.. Lachlan, he uhh, he kind of ate his own shit.
Throughout the next half hour of Paul trying to convince me it was true, my thought process went something like this:
- ‘LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, YEAH RIGHT, PAUL.
- LOL WTF, LOL PAUL.
- That’s just fucked up, as if he thinks I’d believe this!
- Lol, why is he being so serious about it :/
- Why is he still trying to convince me :S
- Lachlan does seem kind of weird..
- He couldn’t have, could he?
- Oh. God.’
He revealed some time later that it was in fact not true. In my defense, though, he is probably the best liar I know, and Lachlan DOES seem a little suspicious.
Story #2, circa 2010 (school grounds):
Paul: “No I’m being serious!”
Me: “Oh yeah, like that time you said Lachlan ate his own shit HAHA”
-Person behind Paul abruptly turns to face me with the most horrified look in his face-
Oh of course, Lachlan WOULD be standing right there, wouldn’t he?
My friend told me that my other friend ate his own shit, and I believed it.
And I see someone walking down the other side who totally looks like someone I know. And then I realise it isn’t him at all. Being that I don’t know this look-a-like random and he doesn’t know me, I decide it to be perfectly fine to stare at him in awe of how similar to my friend he looks. Then he stares at me, probably because I’m staring at him. I keep walking up, he keeps walking down, and after approximately 10 seconds I realise it actually is who I thought it was, at which point I feel too awkward about staring (and that he most definitely noticed) to wave, so I look away and continue on my journey. Cool story bro.
